About Everything Pregnancy
New Zealand boasts a unique midwifery system, where women engage with a lead maternity carer (LMC) – a midwife – from the very beginning of their pregnancy. This relationship extends through the entire pregnancy, the birth, and up to six weeks postpartum.
It’s a deeply personal experience, built on trust and continuity of care, and designed to ensure compassionate and individualized support.
Over the years, I have seen firsthand how important this continuity is for empowering women and building strong, supportive relationships.
However, in recent years, a significant shortage of community midwives has begun to change this model of care. This shortage has resulted in a shift toward a team-based approach, where women are cared for by multiple midwives and often receive hospital-based support during labour and birth, sometimes from professionals they’ve never met.
While this approach is common world wide, it is a significant change from the traditional midwifery model that has for such a long time been the foundation of maternity care here in New Zealand.
It is my passion to preserve the essence of personalised, continuous care, and to share my knowledge to empower women throughout their pregnancy journey.
This app is designed to provide women with the information and confidence they need to make informed decisions about their care.
I believe that when women are fully informed and supported, they can take ownership of their experience and feel empowered as they navigate this life-changing journey.
